Best local foods you must try in Busan, Korea part1

There is saying 'when you're in Rome, do what Romans do'. It is truly great joy to enjoy local food when you're travelling.

I'll show you some local foods you must try when you visit Busan, Korea. Since I am a Korean, I can not fully understand the taste of foreigners in detail, so I'll try to give you the taste roughly but specific. Before I begin, I can not help mentioning the traffic in Busan. Busan is consitst of Chinese characters in Korean. So, Bu is '釜' which means traditional cauldron in Korea. San is '山' which means mountain in Korea. And these characters make the meaning of Busan as mountain that looks like cauldron. I will move on to the point because there is a controversy about which mountains are cauldron shaped.

The cauldron looks like this. It is a pot used in Korea for a long time. It takes a long time to raise the heat because it is made of cast iron. Since its heat lasts longer and strong, it tastes a different flavor if you make a boiled rice or Korean style soup. Nowadays, its shape and function got some improvement and there are some restaurants that use this cauldron when they cook. Franchise called Yellow Chicken-Norang Tongdak in Korean- is one of them. They say that they fry chickens in cauldron. This franchise also started in Busan. Because of this unique feature, word-of-mouth have been spread widely. If you go to Busan, this will be a good choice to eat once. Now it became a national franchise, you can find in other cities.

Let's get back to the point. It is not recommended to rent a car to use it because the traffic in Busan has many difficulties even for locals. It is recommended to use public transportation because most of the places and restaurants located by the subway lines and the bus lines are.

■ Chowon Bokguk restaurant(Blowfish or Pufferfish Soup)
It is a restaurant with history of Korea. People usually recommend Geumsu Bokguk restaurant, but the Chowon Bokguk restaurant seems to have a good access from subway station and the taste is similar. This is the place where Former Chief Secretary Kim Ki-chun, who served as Chief Secretary of the party in the days of President Park Geun-hye, and a number of politicians met in 1992 and the incident occurred when he made a remark about encouraging local feelings. The taste is good regardless of this historical background. Locals prefer to have this when they've got hangover. You may feel unfamiliar with the texture of the blowfish. but you can feel the texture of the tangled fish even though it boils. It may be an opportunity to elevate your self-esteem by eating this and saying 'I ate poison fish, and lived!' Pufferfish are poisonous. Yes, it does. but these restaurants have their own skill to eliminate those unnecessary poison out thoroughly from the fish you'll take.

Price: $ 9 to $ 11
Location: Near by Kyunsung Uviv. & Pukyong Nat'l Univ. subway station.

■ Jang Su Sam(Traditional Ginseng Chicken Soup)
Samgyetang is not only Busan's food but also a representative Korean food. Overall, the price range is around $ 8 to $ 15. It is hard to find a place that is tasteless. Because you can change the taste of Samgyetang by adding salt and pepper by your own taste.

And most of all it is meat!!! How can it not be tasteless!! However, It is really hot. So, you might wanna watch out before you sip a bit of it. It is a very good chemistry with the ginseng liquor and almost every Samgyetang restaurant offer this.

Price: $ 9
Location: Near by Milak Subway station

 Ssangdoongi Dwaeji Gukbap(Twin's pork soup)
There are a lot of Korean people who visit this place, but if you do not order a right one, you do not taste the right menu. So the menu you have to order is 'SuBaek' in Korean. It is like acronym for Suyuk Baekban. When you do that, they'll offer 2 types of meals. One is pork slices that came from different portion of meat. The other one is normal broth you can see in Gukbap restaurant in Busan. This is also accompanied by a salt and pepper together, so if you do not like the strong smell of the food, it will be a tough menu.

You can see the boiled meats which you call it as Suyuk in Korean. And there are some spicy sauces around the pork. God, it look so tasty!!

Price: $9
Location: Near by Daeyeon Subway Station

I'll be back with some tasty menu soon.
